Loughcrew Cairns is just outside Oldcastle, Co. Meath. It is a megalithic cairn, similar to Newgrange but probably not as well known. During the Equinox at sunrise the backstone of the cairn featuring megalithic art is illuminated by a beam of light. The artwork is over 5,000 years old. I have featured some of this artwork in this piece. It's a very spiritual place and well worth a visit. The original was oil and cold wax using palette knife.
