My name is Bríd Fanning. I am an Irish artist based near Oldcastle, in Co. Meath. Working from my home studio I create art where I explore our identity through our more obscure treasure of Irish traditions and folklore. Whether its our people, animals or our landscape, I like to express who we are through bold colour.
Co. Meath is steeped in Irish myth, legend and history. I live close to a fairy fort and a megalithic tomb (Loughcrew Cairns) so its easy to find inspiration by this amazing rural landscape that surrounds me. My work is always an evolving process. I'm constantly learning and developing my style. In addition to my original pieces I also combine my artwork with my graphic design background to create unique art prints.
My background is in Visual Communications. In recent years I worked as a Graphic Design Consultant. Previous to that I worked as a In-house Graphic Designer for commercial businesses for various disciplines including architecture, finance, on-line gaming and animal nutrition. In the early days I worked in marketing and advertising here in Ireland and also in the USA and Australia.
I continued to develop my art skills over the years completing courses at the National College of Art and Design in “Drawing and Contemporary Art Practice” and “Colour Theory.” I also completed a course on “Illustration for Children’s Picture Books”.
I would like to thank MIAN Photography for all the professional photography of me on this site.
