Story Behind the Art
“The Boys Are Back in Town” is a lively celebration of friendship, memory, and the quiet rituals that bring generations together. Created in oils and cold wax with a palette knife, the painting carries a rich, textured energy - every sweep of colour suggesting laughter, stories half-told, and boots crunching along a familiar road.
With arms slung across one another’s shoulders, the figures move as a single rhythm, young and old bound by shared history. There’s a hint they could be headed anywhere at all - off to a match on a blustery Sunday, drifting toward the pub for a pint and a song, or strolling to mass with a bit of mischief in their step. It’s less about the destination and more about the togetherness, the easy banter, and the comfort of belonging.
Painted with warmth and a wink of Irish humour, the piece captures that timeless spirit of “having the craic,” where stories grow taller, laughter runs deeper, and every generation finds its place in the line.
Materials and Techniques
The original was created in oils and cold wax using a palette knife on board to create lots of depth and texture. The original is sold. Archival museum quality limited edition prints on cotton rag paper.

I am happy to ship my paintings internationally, and I will package all artwork with the utmost care. If you are interested in a particular piece, please contact me and I will give you a quote for the exact shipping cost, depending on the size, the weight and of course the destination of the particular piece.
PRINTS
All prints will be packaged carefully to ensure safe delivery. Prints can be shipped internationally. Shipping charges are based on the size of the print and the destination.
