It was a long winter and by the time it got to the end of January it felt like the longest winter in history. Looking out into the garden everything felt so grey as did the world at that time with pandemic and full lockdown in place. So it was easy to start dreaming about summer and imagining the garden in full bloom. We have alliums every year and I just love how they stand tall and proud and look quite sculptural. I wanted this painting to be dreamy, soft but most of all uplifting. It's not my usual colour palette but I think it works perfect for this one.
